Inside a yurt (ger) in Mongolia

If you click on this photo, it might make it bigger. It was toasty warm inside the ger.

Mongolian taste sensation

These "cat tongues" are not made in Mongolia, but are very popular here. And isn't it self obvious why they are?

Why I love Mongolia Pt 239

Another reason I like Mongolia is that I feel so thin, as this shot of the land registry people suggests. Such a confidence booster.

More Mongolia

Kathrine and I are in Mongolia at the same time (adding to the list of countries where we have worked together), and went to see a Buddhist temple in the middle of Ulaan Bataar on Saturday morning (before having some truly dreadful coffee). Interesting mix of old and new in this town. Mike tried to get in the photo too, but only managed part of his finger. Still a bit chilly, as you can see.

Mongolia

This is a very very big statue of Genghis Khan outside the capital Ulaan Bataar. Gorgeous light here - we are about 1100 metres above sea level - and open space.

Outskirts of Ulaan Bataar, Mongolia

What else is there to do on a spring Sunday morning than drive out to the suburbs of Ulaan Bataar and visit a family living in a yurt for a cup of salty, milky tea and some vodka made from milk? So that is what we did.

Oh, I forgot, and also visit baby calves being kept warm in their own yurt.
