This is a shot of me with Vladi and Rumiana, both of Bulgaria but now living in Rome and working at the FAO. We work together everywhere - Kyrgyzstan, Macedonia, Bosnia, Serbia, Montenegro and more. Luckily, the three of us get on well.
This is a shot of the train station in Istanbul, just below the palace, where the Orient Express ended its journey, right on the edge of Europe. The station looks a little worse for wear, but still a romatic spot. Opposite the station is the port - the Submlime Porte, I guess - for onward travel. These days it is a bit more like Circular Quay.
Wonderful weather in Istanbul and the city is European Cultural Capital for 2010 so lots happening. Here are some shots of Haghia Sophia, built around 550 AD and still rather impressive. As part of the celebrations, the authorities have removed some of the scaffolding. Those crazy Turks!
Skopje is full of modern art, and they have a rather lovely building to house it all. Opened in 1970, it must have been quite a sight. It still is rather impressive.
I am a freelance blog glamour puss, and specialist in international relations, who flies around the world to take photos that will hopefully entertain my public. In between, I do a bit of land law consulting, just to keep my friends and the tax authorities thinking that I have a real job.
