World Bank to the rescue (again!)

Victoria from the Bank office in Washington DC came down to Buenos Aires for a few days to see what all the excitement is about. Ever the humanitarian, she can be seen here advising the locals on how to blow their noses (nicely) in front of one of the many government-sponsored bird flu sign around the city - la Gripe A (H1N1) as it is affectionately known here. As these shots demonstrate, even on holiday, Victoria just cannot help helping - a pin up girl for the Bank.

On the (redeveloped) waterfront

Continuing with my new look of the tough guy Argentinean fisherman/peasant/labourer, I was down on the redeveloped waterfront here in Buenos Aires. They have a very nice new pedestrian bridge, which you can see from both angles in these shots.

An Argentinean necropolis

I am not in Europe, or an open air architecture museum, but rather the main cemetary of Buenos Aires. As you can see, they do a nice resting place here - big ones, little ones and even one that looks like the Tardis. The tourists love it. Eva Peron's grave is somewhere here but I missed it amongst all the over the top-ness.

Window dressing in BA

Lovely, lovely architecture, colours, detail and finishing here. Lots of dog poo on the streets, too.

Polo boot heaven

Polo and Argentina go together, and leather goods and Argenina are likewise. But nothing prepared us for the premier polo boot shop (recommended in the Wallpaper* guide to BA) or the excellent prices. Made to order, too, if you like.

A BA perspective

Dani and me with an interesting, slightly 80s perspective on Buenos Aires.

BA Baby

After only 20 years of talking about it, I have finally made it to Buenos Aires. It is no place for vegetarians, but otherwise pretty impressive.
